An armored car needs the same routine maintenance as any vehicle (more of it, since the added weight makes the engine, transmission, and drivetrain work harder), plus armor-specific care. The added weight puts extra load on the running gear, and the armor plating and windows need periodic inspection. Routine service goes to your local mechanic. Oil, fluids, transmission, and electrical work follow the manufacturer's normal schedule, which preserves any remaining OEM warranty. Brakes, suspension, and tires carry the extra weight. Armor adds 600 to 1,500 pounds, so these parts take on more wear. Alpine Armoring upgrades the brake pads and reinforces the suspension on every build, so plan to check pad wear, ride height, and tires more often than usual.
The windows need periodic inspection. Quality ballistic glass lasts 20 years or more, but UV, heat, and chemicals degrade it even when it is never struck. A professional check protects the certified protection level and catches delamination before it clouds the view.
