Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Does It Cost to Get an Armored Vehicle?

Armored vehicles range from $95,000 to over $800,000, depending on protection level, base vehicle, and customization. For example, A4 (CEN B4) handgun protection runs $140,000–$200,000, while A9 (B6+) protection against AK-47s and similar threats ranges from $200,000 to $450,000. Pre-owned options can save $100,000 to $400,000 without compromising certified protection standards. Read more ->

How Do I Pay for a Vehicle, and Does Alpine Armoring Offer Financing?

Alpine Armoring’s standard payment plan is a 50% deposit at order and the remaining 50% before shipping, with wire transfers or cashier’s checks accepted for security on high-value transactions. Foreign governments can use pre-approved Letters of Credit, and GSA government contract buyers receive special terms. Alpine does not offer direct financing but connects clients with banks, lenders, and credit unions that specialize in armored vehicle loans, with rates typically ranging from 5% to 10%. Read more ->

How Long Does It Take To Have a Vehicle Armored?

Standard armoring takes 4–12 weeks, depending on protection level: 30–45 days for light-to-medium builds (A1–A9), 45–60 days for heavy armor (A10–A12), and 60–90 days for specialty vehicles with custom features. Alpine Armoring maintains a ready inventory and offers priority production slots for urgent projects, so timelines can often be compressed when security needs are immediate. Read more ->

Do I Need an Export License to Ship Armored Vehicles Outside of the United States?

It depends on the vehicle’s protection level, destination, intended use, and end-user. Standard models up to Alpine A9 (CEN B6) may qualify under updated Department of Commerce rules, but A10 (CEN B7) and above always require an export license – as does any vehicle with weapon modifications such as gun ports. Licenses typically take 2–6 weeks to issue, and Alpine Armoring guides clients through full BIS compliance, ocean freight, and air cargo logistics. Read more ->

How Do I Know What Protection Level I Need?

Alpine Armoring offers twelve protection levels (A1–A12) aligned with international CEN, NIJ, UL, and STANAG standards. The right level depends on your threat profile: A4 (B4) stops handguns up to .44 Magnum, A9 (B6+) defends against assault rifles like the AK-47 and 7.62x51mm rounds, and A12 (B7+) stops armor-piercing and high-power sniper rounds. Alpine Armoring conducts a personalized threat assessment based on your location, occupation, and security needs. Read more ->
