Your Everyday Car. Bulletproof.

Civilian armored vehicles stopped being exotic. Alpine Armoring builds certified protection into the cars families and professionals already drive: street-legal, factory-stock in appearance, and engineered to handle like the original. Yes, it’s legal to own one.

The threat moved to ordinary roads

Carjackings at gunpoint and smash-and-grab attacks have surged across American metro areas, and they happen where families are: school pickups, parking lots, stoplights. The buyer changed with the threat. Protection once reserved for celebrities and heads of state is now in suburban driveways, because the most exposed part of most families’ day is the drive itself.

Street-legal, factory-stock, and built to drive like your car

Owning an armored vehicle is legal for civilians in the United States, with no federal restrictions, and personal use typically requires only a standard driver’s license; a few states, California among them, add local rules, and Alpine Armoring confirms yours during consultation. The build stays discreet: factory body lines, handles, and glass tint, so a Camry or Suburban reads as exactly that. And it stays livable. Upgraded suspension and brakes carry the added weight within the factory GVWR, handling is validated with slalom and moose testing, routine service stays with your local mechanic, a one-year warranty backs the work, and specialty insurers cover the vehicle like any other high-value car.

Armor for the cars people actually drive

Alpine Armoring armors mainstream platforms alongside its luxury line, and every civilian armored vehicle keeps its interior, technology, and factory features.

The manufacturer government agencies buy from

Alpine Armoring has built armored vehicles in Virginia for more than 30 years, holds GSA contractor status, and supplies federal agencies, with ballistic testing at the United States Army’s Aberdeen Proving Ground, VPAM VR7 certification, and a zero-penetration record across every vehicle delivered. The same engineering goes into civilian builds. To prove it, Alpine Armoring took one of its own daily-driven Tesla Model S builds to the range and live-fire tested it against handguns and high-powered rifles. The A9 armor held.

As CEO Fred Khoroushi put it after the test: “Neither the OEM look nor its amazing performance was compromised.”

Priced by protection, not prestige

Cost follows the threat level you build against, and most civilian buyers land between A4 handgun protection and A9 rifle protection. The full pricing guide breaks down every component; the short version is below.

Protection levelStopsTypical investment
A1 – A4Handgun rounds (9mm, .357, and .44 Magnum)$75,000 – $200,000
A5 – A6Rifle rounds (7.62x39mm AK-47 class)$170,000 – $320,000
A7 – A9High-power rifle rounds (M193, M80 Ball)$180,000 – $580,000

Payment is a 50% deposit, with the balance due before shipping. Alpine Armoring doesn’t finance in-house, but it connects buyers with banks and credit unions that lend on armored vehicles, and a trade-in program can offset the price. Certified pre-owned vehicles cut $100,000 to $400,000 off comparable new builds after a three-stage recertification, and armored rentals cover a trip or a trial run before committing.

Start with a free threat assessment

Every engagement starts with a free consultation: a threat analysis matched to how and where you drive, a line-item cost breakdown, and financing options if you want them. If A4 protection covers your real risk, that is the recommendation you will get.
