What Is A6 Armor?

A6 armor is Alpine Armoring’s entry rifle-rated protection level, equivalent to CEN BR5 and NIJ RF1. It stops the AK-47 and its 7.62x39mm round, the most widely used rifle in the world. A6 is the standard spec for clients in regions where AK-pattern weapons are a realistic concern, the point at which Alpine’s scale shifts from handguns to rifles.

• What A6 stops. A6 defeats the AK-47’s 7.62x39mm round at 2,380 feet per second (725 m/s), the firearm behind more attacks than any other. That puts A6 a step above the handgun levels on the armor-level scale, including the .44 Magnum at A4, and one below the 7.62x51mm (.308) protection at A9.
