Alpine Armoring has updated its policies regarding export licenses in accordance with regulations announced by the Department of Commerce on June 20, 2013. This means that an export license for some armored vehicles sold by Alpine Armoring may no longer be required.
However, whether you need an export license for armored car shipments depends on the protection level, destination, intended use, and end-user. Alpine Armoring adheres to the United States Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) (www.bis.doc.gov) requirements, and some key points include:
1. Individual Assessment: Each vehicle model will be looked at individually to see if it qualifies under the regulations.
2. Minimum Requirements: If a vehicle meets specific regulations, an export license may still be required. For example, vehicles with weapon modifications (e.g., gun ports) require licensing regardless of armor level.
3. Compliance: Alpine Armoring is dedicated to following all United States State Department and BIS armored vehicle export regulations. We explain to our customers what BIS export license requirements apply to their selected vehicle and intended use.
4. Armor Levels: Armored vehicle exports covering standard models up to Alpine Level A9 (generally equivalent to level CEN B6) may be subject to USDOC export restrictions depending on the vehicles’ GVWR, specific end-users, country restrictions, and other factors. Exporting commercial HD-type bulletproof vehicles at level A10 (generally equivalent to level CEN B7) or above always requires an Export License.
5. Customer Cross-Checking: Validating whether the end-user is not:
a. In a Restricted Country
b. On the Denied list
c. On the Debarred List
d. On the Specially Designated Nationals List
